I am Li Thin, Thor. I am 40 years old, I’m a Malaysian Chinese, born in Penang, Malaysia. I’m an educator and the founder of Thor Educare Sdn Bhd. I come from a comfortable family background with a harmonious environment. From a young age, my parents have strict expectations, which cultivated an independent and highly competitive personality in me. Growing up, my older siblings, who set excellent examples, influenced me positively, instilling self-discipline and self-regulated lifestyle from childhood .
In my early years, I faced academic challenges, but I was fortunate to encounter a dedicated teacher who patiently guided me through those challenges. Now, I am committed to exerting my utmost efforts to help students surmount their academic challenges.My passion for education drives me to aspire to teach without discrimination, instil a love for learning, sharing my knowledge in diverse ways with each and every student.
In 2019, I founded Thor Educare, an educational centre where I am personally involved in every aspect, wholeheartedly executing the missions of education. Teachers are often likened to "gardeners" and "candles," praised for their dedication. I always bear in mind my responsibilities, striving to deliver high-quality lessons and provide the necessary guidance for each student's intellectual development. Students are living, breathing individuals, and the goal of education is to inspire and guide them on their path of self-development.
In a world where knowledge is paramount and learning is an ever-evolving journey, my vision is crystal clear: to instil a burning passion for learning in every child and provide them with opportunities to become the best versions of themselves. Education should be more than just textbooks and tests; it should be an exhilarating voyage, an exploration of the self, and a pathway to personal growth.The process of educational and teaching is profoundly creative, focusing on nurturing and developing students' creativity through guidance, inspiration, and training. My mission is to ensure the holistic development and improvement of each student in areas encompassing morals, intellect, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor. The principles of educational instruction emphasise that education is imparted through teaching, and there exists a direct and intrinsic connection between knowledge and morality. Moral education can only produce a real impact through teaching, making instruction the fundamental avenue for moral education. There is no education without teaching, and there is no teaching without education. My dedication to my educational centre is unwavering. I firmly believe that education has the power to transform future generations. It's about nurturing curious minds, sparking creativity, and feeling a thirst for knowledge that lasts a lifetime. Education is a source of inspiration and empowerment for all.
In my professional career, the biggest challenge I've encountered is guiding each student towards improvement. I strive to seek various teaching methods to educate my students effectively. I am committed to putting forth my utmost effort to ensure that every student can experience better education. Therefore, my educational centre’s mission is multi-faceted. It encompasses not only the cognitive aspects of learning but also the health and well-being of our precious children. My teamis resolute in taking care of them, not only physically but emotionally as well. Confidence, discipline, and essential soft skills form the foundation of our approach, serving as the cornerstones of a well-rounded education. My aim is to be a guiding light in every child's educational journey, a stepping stone towards a brighter future.At the heart of my approach is a commitment to providing an interactive, world-class educational experience. I believe in fostering an environment where students can develop their intellectual potential, discover their innate talents, and cultivate essential lifelong learning skills. It's not just about memorising facts and figures but about understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
As my teamand I embark on this mission, we understand the diversity of every family's needs. No two children are the same, and their educational journeys should reflect this diversity. We are committed to empowering parents to identify the most suitable services, activities, and places of interest for their children. Education is not one-size-fits-all, and our goal is to cater to these unique needs.In order to enhance the educational offerings of the centre, my team of educators is not just qualified but also professionally trained. They bring a strong academic background to the table, guaranteeing that the child develops a solid sense of confidence and a love for learning. My educators are not just teachers but mentors, guiding young minds to achieve their full potential. Additionally, it's important to note that a safe and clean environment is another paramount in our approach. Irecognise that a nurturing atmosphere plays a pivotal role in a child's overall growth. My team and Iemphasise the importance of their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being, ensuring they feel secure and comfortable in their educational journey. Additionally, we are equally committed to ensuring a balanced diet for our students. We provide a diverse range of foods, aiming to instil healthy eating habits while also stimulating the senses of smell and taste. Good nutrition is a cornerstone of overall well-being and growth.Over the next three years, I intend to train more educators who share a love for teaching, thereby granting more children the opportunity to receive a better education.
In order to help children feel a greater sense of achievement in their studies,I also encourage and guide students to participate in various extracurricular competitions and international academic contests. For three consecutive years, in 2021, 2022, and 2023, I was honoured as an Outstanding Guidance Teacher in the World Chinese Student Composition Competition, organized by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, People's Daily Overseas Edition and the Joyful Essay Magazine. In year 2023, I received a recognition as an Outstanding Guidance Teacher in the Sunshine Cup Creative Essay Competition for Chinese-American Youth 2023, organized by theChicago North Shore Chinese Center. Moreover, I also guide my students to participate in various international social activitiesStudents Rebuild Literacy Challenge 2015, Students Rebuild Flowers For Nepal Challenge 2015, Students Rebuild Classroom Healing Challenge 2016, Students Rebuild Youth Uplift Challenge 2017, Students Rebuild Ocean Challenge 2019, JCI Go Green Carnival 8R 2019, the School Carnival Of SJK(C) True Light 2019, Students Rebuild The Hunger Challenge 2020, and Students Rebuild Changemaker Challenge 2021.
Overall, my holistic approach to my educational centre encompasses the vision, mission, and goals. My team and I arededicated to inspiring a passion for learning, nurturing the physical and emotional well-being of our students, and guiding them towards becoming their best selves. With a strong focus on individual needs, world-class education, child-centred learning, a safe environment, professional educators, and a balanced diet, we are wholehearted to shaping future generations that are not only knowledgeable but also confident, empathetic, and ready to face the challenges of the world.
Furthermore, let's not forget, receiving the Queen Book Award from “Queen Book powered by Queen Times” is an immense honour, I am profoundly grateful and deeply honoured to receive this award, underscoring the tireless dedication and unwavering passion that have fuelled my career journey. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the award organisers for this recognition, which not only validates past efforts but inspires even greater contributions to academia and industry.
