Miss Dishari Neogy is an Indian author and poet, who has authored more than 20 anthologies under various renowned publications; both national and international. She first published her work in “Over A Cup Of Coffee And Sunflower” in 2021.
Dishari Neogy hails from the culturally exclusive city of Kolkata in the eastern state of West Bengal, India. Once the throbbing capital of British India, Kolkata now stands as the fundamental emblem of cultural epicenter, literary hub, food mecca and heritage arsenal. She is enormously proud of her family’s cultural lineage and their extensive knowledge of Literature. Raised in the land of Nobel Laureate, Tagore, she profoundly imbued herself with sonnets, poems, hymns, patriotic songs, short stories and novels. Since childhood, Miss Neogy had penchant towards Literature, which was infinitely flared by her convent education and her father’s incessant urge to know the colossal world of literary monoliths.
During the formative years of her childhood, she has been acquainted with the classically epic writings of literary stalwarts, which has overwhelmingly influenced her pristine mind and ever-inquisitive soul. Dishari’s predilection in exploring the universe of Shakespeare, Sri Aurobindo, Shelley, Walpole and so on, has undeniably produced an erudite mind of innovative ideas, concrete theories and robust personality.
Her proclivity towards delineating and deconstructing the layers of women characters got inexplicably flared after reading the romantic epics of Jane Austen. Emulating and following the footprints of her creative genius, she embarked on the journey of writing, fundamentally revolving her characters around women psyche and their social plight.
At a young age of twenty-five, Miss Neogy has appeared on the cover of many popular Indian magazines. Her understanding of our society, the hierarchical stratus prevalent in them have inadvertently affected and aggravated the “women problem”; and her consequent depiction of them in her articles, poems and short stories reveal a great depth of her comprehension and native language.
Besides her literary knack, she wanted to harness other particular skills. The author has completed a full-time course in Post-Graduate Content Writing Program from Henry Harvin Education. She simultaneously underwent an English Composition Course under the tutelage of Professor Dr. Denise Comer, Duke University and a Copywriting and Proofreading course from Lancaster University.
All her published works vehemently support women emancipation, mental stability, liberation of thoughts, upliftment of social strata and utterly condemns unbridled social stigmas, patriarchal oppression, strangulating social decorum and ambiguity of behaviour. Readers love her clear stream of thought and genial understanding of human psyche. She receives immense appreciation through the awards and compliments that have been bestowed on her.
ABOUT HER WORKS:-
1. Over A Cup Of Coffee And Sunflower - Her first published work. In this book, she has published five poems, all essaying the innocent emotions and anguish that one encounters in daily life.
2. Moonlight - This is her second anthology, where two of her heart-wrenching poems got published; portraying the pent up emotions of a sophomore girl.
3. Peace and Faith – in this book she has written a short story about how peace can be achieved through ‘Faith’. Even after losing everything we hold dearest to us, we can acquire solace by endowing unaccounted faith in God.
4. Angels of God – This is one of her closest work till date. In this creative piece, she has written about her muse, her inspiration; about the iconoclast, Mary Wollstonecraft. She betrayed how her intellectual ideas created revolutions centuries back and how they still reform and revamp our conception of woman emancipation in general; and ‘marriage’ in particular.
5. Laura Mulvey’s Redemptive Approach Against Cinema’s Vengeful Narcissistic Scopophilia – This research indictment has been her most difficult and outstanding pieces. A lot of her creative thought and unconventional thinking have come into play while writing down this research paper.
How ‘cinema’ or ‘camera’ has been used as a paraphernalia to ogle at women and she simultaneously dealt with how women have been exposed brutally to satiate ‘male gaze’. Miss Neogy has impeccably highlighted the dichotomy between a ‘male gaze’ and ‘female to be gazed at’ and the undaunted superiority of the former over the later.
6. Deconstruction of the Conceptual ‘centre’ as a Post modern phemomenon – In this article, the author has used the term ‘centre’ as coined by Jacques Derrida and how all our ideas revolve around de-centering that very centre. She further advocated that the binary concepts like: day-night, light-darkness, man-woman, black-white and so on. By de-centering she meant, de-structuring the concepts into many microscopic area of analysis.
