Madam Kavitha, daughter of Ratnam from SMK San Min, Teluk Intan, Perak was born in Kuala Kangsar, Perak. As everyone has got their own ambition so did madam kavitha. She wanted to be a teacher and she became one. Madam Kavitha has been an educator for 20 years. Her first degree was from the Science University of Malaysia. She studied in Literature in Education, majoring in Malay and minor in History. She furthered her studies and obtained a Master Degree in Malay Language Studies for Education at Sultan Idris Education University and is currently completing her studies in Philosophy of Doctorate Studies in Curriculum. She was first posted at SMK Lutong, Miri, Sarawak, then transferred to SMK Methodist Sungai Siput (U), Perak, and now continuing her service in SMK San Min, Teluk Intan for the past 15 years. She never neglected any of the tasks entrusted to her. She gives her 100 percent effort for the students continuous achievement. Though her success is as sweet as honey but the effort put in, in every task is not a smooth journey. She worked hard relentlessly without counting any seconds and had many sleepless nights.. Her first achievement and challenge came through her Play for the Malay Drama. Her students under her guidance managed to get second place and the best female actress in Miri Division for both competitions.
That is the beginning of her first success as a teacher during her first posting. Since then she has never stopped her winning streak in any Malay Language competitions.
She also taught exam classes and also showered her students with excellent grades and her students continue to flourish in the subject.
She has obtained many successes in the field of curriculum and Co-curriculum at School District, State, National and International levels. She is still helping students in Poetry Festivals, Parliamentary Debate Speeches, Poems, Poems and Malay Essay Writing Competitions and many other competitions until now.
On the aspects of curriculum aspect, she was a regular academic teacher until 2012. After that, she was appointed to be Form Six academic teacher. She still teaches Malay Language for SPM level and General Studies for STPM according to the requirements of the school. She always ensures that the quantity and quality of the Malay and General Studies subjects are at an encouraging level. Efforts of various forms of teachings are invested. She is bold to try new ways in her teaching and learning process and her students have never felt bored during her lessons. She often helps teachers who face problems in diversifying teaching and learning methods, regardless of whether they are from the same or school. She shares her knowledge from time to time to new and old teachers through social media apps and any other channel that is easy to contact. Conventional methods or modern methods are still used to diversified as far as possible. Many materials that she prepared are shared amongst teachers in the hope of benefiting all. Never pretending to be full of knowledge and always helping teachers who need guidance in the teaching and learning process during face to face or online session . Sometimes, the best activities of her students are shared with the students of other classes. Students also know that there is a sharing of knowledge between students helping students. There are also materials transliterated from Malay to Chinese to facilitate second language students.
From the Co-curriculum aspect, she has coached athletes up to the national level. School netball to District level, Sixth Form Volleyball up to National level fourth place. Co-academic, on the other hands, not only been a mentor teacher for all the Malay Language competitions for her students, but she has also been a judge for the Malay Language competitions at the school, district and state levels for Primary and Secondary Schools until now.
Ex-students still look for her if they are in need of help with job applications, chanting jobs, continuing studies, promotions, and so on.
She is always invited to be a SPM Malay Language Answering Technique speaker, especially for schools with a majority of Indian students, because it makes it easier for students to understand when using Malay and Tamil. She was also invited as a speaker for General Studies Papers 1, 2, and 3.
There are also students from other schools who ask for online and free tutoring for Malay and General Studies subjects. She guides them when there is an opportunity. She believes that conveying and sharing knowledge without expecting any returns will further develop knowledge. She does a lot of community activities when free. Her family is still taken care of. She is multitalented woman. She is a beauty with brain!
